Todd Lockwood

Todd is clearly inspired by mythology and fantasy which he portrays in his art. He is a big deal in the world of science fiction illustration, and it is clear why. His digital paintings are amazingly detailed and beautifully colored. He has a great sense of composition, light, and form and he is very good at what he does.

Shane Salzwedel

Shane creates very eerie, yet really interesting, graphite drawings on transparent paper. He then creates depth by layering his drawings so the bottom layers are faded creating space and depth. His imagery usually consists of tall lanky trees and some sort of industrial or man made structures or objects.

Evgeny Lushpin

Evengy is a realistic painting who paints cityscapes and landscapes in a realistic style. Not only are they amazingly painted, but they are successful in creating strong moods. Most of his paintings are clearly depicting winter or a rainy day giving them a very cold feeling. However, they are very inviting and comforting because of all of the warm glowing lights depicted in the windows of the numerous buildings. These warm glowing lights are reminders of the comfort of warm homes when it is cold outside. There is something comforting about all of her paintings that makes me want to be there.

Sergei Aparin

Sergei is a modern surrealist who really has a big imagination. To be a surrealist you have to have a good imagination, but his images are surprisingly wild and clever. He mixes images together that one would never expect and makes visually stunning images.

George Grie

Grie is a modern surrealist who I have come across due to my interest in surrealism. He seems to play up the power of nature in his breathtaking digital images. His colors are often muted and very grey, which shows the success of his art is due to his great technical skill and powerful images rather than bright colors. The light in his pieces is often memorizing and creates a strong mood in his work.

Alexis Rockman

Rockman is a painter who creates imaginary worlds. His places are usually based off of a real place, but are changed to a different state of being. Many of his pieces seem to be deserted, post-apocalyptic, in ruins, or polluted, but they are still very beautiful. Rockman also has a clear interest in science, nature, and animals which is easily recognized in his work. I am inspired by Rockman’s wild imagination and invented spaces.

Matthew Ritchie

Matthew has a very busy and unique abstract process of art making. His work is so action packed that you could look at it for hours and still find something new. I love the colors he uses and the wild energy is work gives off. Ritchie works two dimensionally with his paintings, but he also creates three dimensional spaces where he uses light and shadows.
